From Horses to Humans - Our Story
Alan and Mark Delany of Laytown, Co. Meath have been equine trainers since their childhood. In 2005 they developed an Equine Spa at their premises to provide a range of all year all weather exercise facilities for horses. The equine spa was designed to provide horses with a facility for recovery after extensive muscle activity or to support the repair of leg muscle injuries. As part of the development of this facility they adopted a walk in Cold Water Therapy system for horses from Australia, which was very well received by owners and trainers alike. Customers came from all over the country to avail of the Hydrotherapy Spa solutions.
Ruth Delany, younger sister of Mark and Alan, was an accomplished athlete who suffered a serious knee injury in 2005. Her brothers convinced her of the therapeutic benefits of Cold Spa Therapy and suggested that it could possibly do the same for her. After a few sessions, she experienced a dramatic improvement in her injury and returned to active participation in sport shortly afterwards.
Realising that the Cold Water Therapy offered benefits to humans as well as horses, we contacted a local football club and offered injured players the opportunity to try out the therapy. Very quickly word spread about the non invasive, quick and effective therapy being extended to sports injuries. Phone calls came from counties all over Ireland asking for their injured players to be facilitated. County players from Donegal to Cork started arrfiving in Julianstown for treatment and our proximity to Dublin (only 25 mins from Croke Park) made us convenient as well as effective.

In late 2006, Mark and Alan re-worked the design of the Equine Cold Water Therapy bath to produce a bath suited to adults. They worked on this design throughout 2007. They worked in consultation with the developers of the original equine bath on the new model. They took extensive medical advice at all stages to ensure that the product was safe for human use. After a lot of work they eventually revealed the finished product in early 2008.
